HIS HOLINESS SRI SRI SRI

SVAMI PURNA MAHARAJ

To love is to know Me,
My innermost nature,
The truth that I am.  - Bhagavad Gita 18.55

What is truth? Many definitions have been offered over the course of time, yet its meaning often remains obscure. As a Living Master, Sri Svami Purna, known as “Svamiji” to His students, reveals the essence of truth and mysticism through the clarity of His teachings. He has travelled and taught throughout the world, thus His message, combining Eastern tradition with an understanding of the Western way of life, has a universal and practical appeal. His teachings come in response to the particular needs of groups or individuals and can provide the insight needed to reach one’s True Self, whatever one’s circumstances. He explains that the rich culture, philosophy, and exemplary way of life demonstrated by the Sanskrit Vedic texts facilitate complete understanding of the meaning of life. Their relevance is profound and practical for all in this modern, hectic life. The Sanskrit language, which means “perfected,” comes alive through Svamiji’s teachings, and He transmits the wisdom of the Vedas, the most ancient, holistic system respecting life and nature. Svamiji upholds the essence of this culture, teaching that happiness and fulfillment come through spiritual thought and development rather than material possessions, and encouraging debate based on rationality, logic, and sensitivity in a way that has resonance for many at this time.

Sri Svami Purna imparts the Highest Knowledge to those who long to realize the True Self. As He has said, “The very purpose of my being in this world is to help the seeker to find the Path.” He is a Perfected Being, meaning that He is the full embodiment and expression of Grace with no restrictions at any level. Free from dogma or religious doctrine of any kind, Svamiji teaches the Path of Complete Development, or “Purna,” meaning Wholeness in body, mind and self. His universal work is purely to benefit and uplift humanity through His teachings and many global initiatives and projects. Accordingly, He guides and inspires people from all walks of life to become fully integrated and to strive to realize or achieve their potential in all thoughts and actions. He is a bridge to the Infinite and the Ultimate Expression of Divine Love, and thus a rare Master not only in the West, but also rare and greatly revered throughout the Indian Subcontinent. His teachings are patient, encouraging, delightful and straightforward, making the Spiritual Path more accessible and joyful to students with very diverse backgrounds and experiences. He teaches practical ways to live a balanced, healthy, and fulfilled life, and for those who are ready, He shows the way to Liberation and freedom from suffering in this lifetime.

One of Svamiji’s aims is to blend perennial wisdom with modern tools to help increase immunity in the whole system of the whole person – and whole community – in order to resist disease and demonstrate responsibility for self and health. Accordingly, He integrates the spiritual with the practical to help us all discover the wholeness that we seek. One step towards becoming complete is to balance the body and mind, which is not an easy task given the tensions, pollutants, and stressors of modern life that are further aggravating to one’s health through non-nutritional diet and life style. Svamiji helps people to free themselves and gain control of their mind, body and lives. He focuses upon a balanced and healthy approach to life, with an emphasis on appropriate lifestyle changes both in retreats and publications. The institutes that He has inspired assist with the development of educational charitable activities that are:

  • cross-cultural and represent a global understanding;
  • practical in today’s society and world; and
  • make available advice and teaching that would not be available easily in a manner that can reach the understanding of all, even the very young and the very old.

His ongoing objective is to open the doors of perennial wisdom from the positive Vedic and Sanskrit traditions to enable people of any tradition, belief, age, origin, and gender to develop and enhance their understanding or meaning in life so that, in turn, this can be applied to assist the achievement of a healthy life balance individually and collectively in the world.
